The Little Drummer Boy

Okay, I know it is January and Christmas is over, but I missed the deadline I had set for myself and I believe this is a message that is needed to be heard.

The Little Drummer Boy is by far my favorite Christmas song and it is close to being my favorite song in general (just like Angela from The Office, haha!) I actually remember belting the Jessica & Ashley Simpson version at the top of my lungs, after my sister bought Jessica Simpson’s new Christmas album.

Can you tell what era I grew up in??

My favorite versions now are MercyMe & obviously the live version of King & Country’s rendition.

But, in reality, it is not about who sings it. It is the words that really strike me. This little poor boy too has nothing to bring the King of Kings. He doesn’t have Gold, Frankincense, or myrrh. All he has is his drum and the gift God gave him, the ability to play that drum.

The song itself makes me tear up because that’s truly all Jesus wants…All He wants is YOU!

He wants you to lean into Him, to trust Him, to love Him. He wants to be your Savior. He paid it all for you and he just wants you to accept Him.

He believes that you are worthy.

So, when you don’t think you have anything to offer, just think of the things He has offered to you. Think of your gifts and abilities. Those were given to you, so how can you bring Glory to God through those gifts?

And when you use those gifts that you were blessed with, the Lord will smile and will be so full of joy, because you are truly honoring Him.

Just like He smiled at the Little Drummer Boy.

“Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Luke 21:3-4
