Welcome 2021.
It sure has been an uneventful year so far for me, and I’m sure for a lot of people it kind of still feels like we are stuck in 2020. I’ll be honest, I have been struggling thinking of different blog topics to write about. When I joined Project 6:8, I was encouraged to write 1 blog a month. So that would be 12 in a year. You wouldn’t think it would be that difficult. I always tend to write about something that is going on in my life that maybe others can relate to. With how 2020 was, and how it’s continuing into 2021, there just is not much going on and I have been praying, “Lord what do you want me to say?” We have been talking a lot about giving God the glory, trusting in his plan for us, seeking his will for us, and discipleship which made me really start to think. There are many people out there that read and listen to our blogs/podcasts. Some may have been Christians for a very long time, some may have recently established that relationship with Jesus, and some may not know him. So I want to share with you a “guideline” that was used for me when I came to Christ. Something, as a Christian, that we can use to help lead others to Christ. And for those who don’t know him or haven’t accepted him as savior, well I pray that this may touch you and start that relationship with Him. It’s called The Romans Road.
The Romans Road is a way of explaining the good news of salvation using verses from the Bible which happen to be found in the book of Romans. It is a simple method of explaining why we need salvation, how God provided salvation, how we can receive salvation, and what are the results of salvation.
The Romans Road starts with Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” We all are sinners. We all were born sinners. We have all done things that are displeasing to God. There is no one who is innocent. Which then leads into Romans 3:10 “There is no one righteous, no not even one.” There is NOT ONE person who can stand before God and not be guilty of sin.
Romans 6:23, teaches us about the consequences of sin – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The punishment that we have earned for our sins is death. Not just physical death, but eternal death! You are free to choose between two masters. Yourself/sin or God. Each has its own end result. The result of sin or choosing to rely/follow self is eternal death. You can’t get to heaven on your own. There are many verses in the Bible that state this as well. The result in relying/following God is eternal life with him!
Next is Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” I still can’t get over the thought of these words of “while we were yet sinners” God sent Jesus Christ to die for us. Not because we were “good enough”, but because he loved us! While we were sinners! Jesus’ death paid for the price of our sins. Jesus’ resurrection proves that God accepted Jesus’ death as the payment for our sins.
The next stop on the Romans Road is Romans 10:9, “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Because of Jesus’ death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting His death as the payment for our sins and we will be saved! Romans 10:13 says it again, “for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is available to anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Once we accept Christ as our savior, He makes many amazing promises to us which are found in the next set of verses of the Romans Road. Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Through Jesus Christ, we can have a relationship of peace with God. Peace in knowing that since we have a relationship with God, we will be able to spend eternal life with Him.
Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus in the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death!” Because of Jesus’ death on our behalf, we will never be condemned for our sins. We are set free from our sin!
Finally, we have this promise of God from Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” No matter what is happening to us, no matter where we are, no matter what is going on in our lives nothing will separate us from the love of Jesus.
As I stated in the beginning The Roman’s Road is a simple method of explaining why we need salvation, how God provided salvation, how we can receive salvation, and what are the results of salvation. So here is the breakdown:
- Why do we need salvation: we need salvation because we were all born sinners and the consequence for being a sinner is eternal death or in other words hell.
- How did God provide salvation: He sent His only son Jesus to pay the price and die on the cross for our sins.
- How can we receive salvation: by calling upon Jesus, repenting of our sins, and accepting Him into our lives as our savior.
- What are the results of Salvation: Eternal life with Jesus, or in other words, heaven!
I’m praying that this blog has helped you in one way or another. I encourage you if you haven’t already marked/highlight these verses in your Bible to do so. You never know when you will have the opportunity to share Jesus with others and this is an amazing guideline on how you can lead someone to Jesus. If this is the first time that you have ever heard these verses, know that I am praying for you! I pray that you really examine your life and ask yourself, “if I would die tonight, would I be spending eternity in heaven or hell?” Have you called upon Jesus and asked him to be your savior? The time is NOW!

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast.
